Amazon Web Services has added several new features to its facial recognition technology, Rekognition. Among them is the improvement of age identification and the ability to recognize fear. Rekognition is a controversial technology that has been criticized both inside and outside of Amazon. These new tools have generated conversation on Twitter. Amazon Web Services has added new capabilities to its controversial facial recognition technology , Rekognition. The system now better detects more age ranges and can also detect fear, according to the company announced on its blog.
The company has explained it like this (bold letters are ours): "Today we are launching improvements to the accuracy and features of our facial analysis systems. Face analysis generates metadata about the faces it detects related Middle East Phone Number List to gender, age range, emotions, labels such as "smile", face pose, face image quality, and face landmarks. With this release, we have further improved the accuracy of gender identification. Additionally, we have improved the accuracy for emotion detection ( for the 7 emotions: 'happy', 'sad', 'angry', 'surprised', 'disgusted', 'calm' and 'confused') and we've added a new one: 'fear'.
